Debate - Conference
The automotive battery: energy carrier or voltage source?
Paolo Cerruti, COO Northvolt Yann Vincent, CEO ACC
Monday April 11, 2022 - 19h - Maison des X
Europe wants to significantly accelerate the reduction of its mobility-relatedCO2 emissions. At the same time, it is realizing that it is essentially dependent on Asia for the supply of the main components needed to achieve this reduction: batteries, power electronics, microprocessors, permanent magnets, etc. Producing locally to consume locally is no longer a question, it's an obligatory step. On the other hand, there is still a major choice to be made: should we favor the local establishment of Asian champions, or should we prioritize the emergence of European champions? Northvolt, a Swedish manufacturer backed by BMW and Volvo, and ACC, a French joint venture backed by Stellantis, Total and Mercedes, are two examples.
Paolo Cerruti, COO of Northvolt, and Yann Vincent, CEO of ACC, will talk about their initiatives and the challenges they face in an extremely competitive environment.
